A woman is said to have died from hunger at the weekend - This title appeared on several newspapers in Kenya on July 8th 2009. Surely, did this woman have to die and what can we do to prevent this from happening?

Imagine going for several days without food. Imagine watching your own children go without food for another night. Imagine being malnourished and eating one meal every three days. Imagine living on less than $1 a day if you are fortunate to find a job. Imagine prolonged periods of drought that have caused crops to fail and food to run out.

Kenya has made an international appeal for food aid to help alleviate famine affecting 10 million people.
